Cloud Computing Ends Database Corruption
What is Database Corruption?
All Microsoft Access Databases are at risk of getting corrupted if they are in an unstable environment. Corruption is when one or more records are damaged to the point that they are either unusable or removed entirely. Key indexes might also be removed from fields. Relationships might be deleted or changed. You may not even be able to open your database. These are critical issues that can prevent you from entering or editing records and may even damage records you enter in the future. Usually you will see a message appear that your database is corrupted, but not always. If you are still able to open your database you may see odd behavior and other messages that you do not realize are due to corruption.
What Causes Database Corruption?
Corruption is caused by a “disconnect” between your server and a computer that is using the database. If the database is trying to save a record but during the process the connection is interrupted, even for a fraction of a second, then the record is damaged and your database has become corrupted. These “disconnects” can be caused by fragile WiFi connections, server hardware issues, old cables running around your office, buggy computer cards, issues with users computers, out of date server software, VPN connections, and etc… Anything that can disturb the healthy connections that Access needs.
Cloud Computing Stops the Corruption
Cloud Computing stops Access database corruption. By putting your Access database on cloud desktops it runs in a stable environment. A database using cloud desktops runs on a cloud server entirely inside memory. No cards, no cables, no hardware issues between users. By eliminating the hardware you stop the corruption. Running an Access database in memory on cloud desktops is extremely stable and exponentially faster than cables or WiFi in an office. Cloud computing is clean and much more stable than software running on computers in your office. The environment is always kept up to date with the latest upgrades and is free from most of the issues that cause database corruption. Try a cloud desktop free trial to see how cloud computing allows you to use one database on many devices at the same time.
